Hey guys...
Just looking over this weeks assignment, and we have to make a digital story that can be used as an introduction for one of our lessons in our project.
I was thinking of doing my story on the needs of a plant...

What are you all thinking?

my script for the podcast

Hello! And thank you for listening to our podcast.
Our Class is working on the creation of a class vegetable garden, and tasting party. Some of the areas we are concentrating on are, the steps to building a garden, and once we harvest these vegetables, we plan to pull from the cultural influences of our penpals in Guerrero, Mexico. This will allow us to transform our vegetables into several tasty dishes for our faculty at our tasting party.

To successfully complete this assignment we are using Project Based Learning also known as PBL.

Project Based Learning engages students in real-world, hands-on projects.

There are so many benefits students gain from participating in Project Based Learning.
Students develop good communication skills. They develop good inquiry skills and technology skills. Students learn to be flexible in work hours, so deadlines can be met.

One of the reasons educators are going towards project based learning, are the 21st century skills that are embedded in the projects.

These skills are important to students today because they can be applied to real life situations. Including college and the work force.

Some of these skills are:

  • ·         Student’s ability to use higher-order thinking.

  • ·         Their ability to analyze, evaluate and create the information given to them.

  • ·         Students will collaborate and create with one another.

  • ·         Students know and understand the importance of relationships with team members.

My part!

Looking forward, the class will be harvesting and preparing our vegetables for the staff at the end of our project. However, The main goal of our project is to expose our students to technology, teamwork, and responsibility while promoting growth as a student. We would like to remain in contact with our partner school for the remaining portion of our project. We will need their insight on growing and serving vegetables. Not only will they help us with our project, but also it will help create an international classroom of learners. Using project-based learning will give students a chance to learn at a deeper level, also being able to see their growth over the length of the project. Management and organizational skills are a must for this project and future works. Children will learn how to manage their project and identify the important deadlines that need to be meet. These skills will help the students grow in more areas then one. The end result of our project will be preparing and serving the vegetables of our class garden to the staff. The students will have the responsibility of growing, gathering, creating, and serving their product to the staff. The class will work together to meet this goal. The many tools students will be using during this project will give them a strong foundation for future works. Understanding how to work with a group to reach a common goal, implementing different types of technology, and responsibly harvesting and preparing vegetables for the staff will all be a major goal for the class. its about a minute and a half!

Google Maps 2

I also think we can use this one as a view for our students to see their school and our school. Just a little map you could put up in the room

Google maps

We could use this map when talking to our children about how far away the other children are. This will give them a view on what kind of place other students live in. We can also talk about how many miles are between both places. This will give students a real life understanding of how far their pen pals are from them.

address of school

Hey...help me find the address for the school

new concept map!

concept map edit

Hey guys! just wanted you to know that I emailed the professor and she said that if we edit our concept map to reflect the changes she mentioned, she will regrade it...

so why don't we throw around some things we need to add and what we need to take away.

I'll start: I think we need to decide if we want to grow flowers or vegetables and remove the rejected one.

also, we need to decide if we are going to cook or sell, and what or where....
